SOUND PRODUCTION PROJECT EVALUATION

With regards to the project brief, the idea was to produce a fictional story on the future of mobile phone and to look at the way mobile phone evolve over the past years.

I tried to emphasize on an old but popular mobile phone which is the Nokia 3310. how it has disappeared from the scene and how transformation in technology has completely altered the then most used mobile phone. Also, to talk about which mobile phone is the most used at the moment and what does the future hold for mobile phone users, i.e what do we look forward to seeing and are there any planned development that we are yet to see in the nearest future.

I made an interview with 3 of my coursemates and we discussed the project. Once the narrative was established the location was easily accessible. We did some brain-storming, in order to put the project together and it worked out as planned.

However, I discovered the more I practice and use the sound recording device (Tascam) the better it gets. This suggests it could get better and I can improve on it if more time is dedicated to it.

Synopsis

Different opinion based on Personal Experiences

My fictional story is about an interview on mobile phone. It has been
said that technology especially, mobile phones have deprived
people’s communication with one another and relationships has
suffered deterioration because of it.

Is Apple iPhone the best?

Which is the most used mobile phone and why is that?

What are we expecting in the future because of the rapid development of technology?

Pre- Production

I went to the Studio to get a Tascam recorder and a microphone.

I took 3 of my course mates and we went to a recording room at
the west building.

I set-up the Tascam recording device coupled with the microphone
and we did the interview and I replayed it to check if it was good.

I transferred and downloaded the interview immediately to my One
drive which saved my work automatically.

Post-Production

I imported my clip to Audition software

I did my best to balance the voice and to cut out unwanted noise

I used some editing tools to lower the voice which I perceived some
noise from the background.

Lastly, I mixed a sound from garage band with the voice and tried
my best to make it meaningful to the audience.

Research and Influence

My project is influenced by Catherine Hailey’s interview on the future of mobile phones.

It is interesting to know what to expect in the future from mobile phone producers and the phone producers and the moment.

I came up with the fiction of what the future holds concerning technology because of its rapid growth today. However, I decided to focus on mobile phone since it has dominated the world and considering the fact that it has transformed our daily communication in an extraordinary way.

I went to book a Tascam sound recorder at the equipment store on campus

I set it up there to check if it would function.

I informed my coursemates I planned to use for my interview.

The next day I got my coursemates together and shared my idea with them.

We went into one of the recording rooms at the west building.

We carried out the voice recording there.

Sound: The importance of Clear Audio

The Importance of clear audio

When sound is good, it often goes unnoticed because it matches the purpose and produces what the audience expects to hear. However, when the sound quality is bad, it is usually obvious. Not only is it distracting, but it also cheapens what could have been great promotional audio.

Clear sound is very essential, in order to get your message across to the audience. After recording the sound, it is also important to listen to it again and do the editing where needed and necessary for clarity. (Adobe Audition is a device where sounds can be edited for clarity)

Synopsis

The concept is about misunderstanding in a relationship.

The story revolves around a young guy and his girlfriend going through a turbulent time. The lady accused her boyfriend of dating another person which led to an altercation between them and the guy left her in frustration and intense rage.

Ends with happiness and they eventually reconciled after the young guy was taken for mistaken identity. The lesson learnt is patience and understanding in a relationship among other things.
